I’ve been so busy working on my thesis recently that I haven’t had time to post many pictures from my new home in South Africa. That’s okay since I’ve been spending most of my time in my home office, which looks pretty much like offices back in America.
My fiance and I did manage to escape for a weekend trip, however. We visited some incredible geology near the town of Oudtshoorn. I’ll write up a few geology posts as time permits, but for now here’s an ostrich riding interlude:

“O” is for Ostrich riding!
Do you have more video of that?

Unfortunately that’s all the video my fiance captured of the riding. However, I have some other pictures from the Ostrich farm and also a series of videos in which my fiance and I try (and fail) to make an ostrich egg for breakfast. I’ll post some of these when I have a chance.

Ostrich egg is a bit much, even for two people. Cooking it, other than scrambled, would be quite problematic.
That said, ostrich meat is QUITE tasty.

why does the ostrich have a bog on his head?

Because, the ostrich is well known to not have a very gentle disposition. They’ll bite. They can also take your head clean off with one kick.

The cover is to keep the ostrich calm while I climbed on its back. They took it off before letting the ostrich run around though.

What can I say but Amazing! This website is fantastic! Did you take all the photos for this? It is great to see others that likes stuff like this. As a floral designer I actually find this sort of issue quite interesting. Do you mind if I link back to this from my personal blog site? Thanks for writing. Nevaeh Elliott
